Q&A WITH VEDA’S CHIEF GROWTH OFFICER, CHASE ZAPUTIL

Chase HorizontalWhat made you want to join Veda?

The most exciting thing to me about Veda is the people. Everyone I’ve met is passionate about the organization and helping health plans solve complex problems. Ultimately, the end consumer is benefiting from the work we’re doing.  We can see a future for healthcare where data isn’t a barrier.

My background is not a straight line but it all revolves around healthcare. I’m a pharmacist by training and that lends itself to the way we think at Veda. The scientific method and the way we look at solving hard problems is something I’ve worked with throughout my career and education.

I’ve been in the healthcare industry and seen these challenges that, on the surface, don’t seem complex, but truly need attention and solving. I’ve gravitated towards impact at scale. We are doing that at Veda by partnering with health plans to help millions of people navigate that complexity.

Taking broad complex problems and trying to simplify them with a solution that’s easy to implement…that’s what intrigues me. We’re solving something that’s difficult and complex, but in a simple and straightforward way.

How can Veda add value for their customers?

We can help our customers by being a true partner to them and understanding their challenges along with where opportunities lie. We start by doing an awful lot of listening and understanding their business. That’s extremely important to us as a company. Not only do we really understand their challenges, but we know the industry challenges as a whole. Provider data accuracy impacts all entities across the healthcare ecosystem. Once we understand what customers’ priorities and strategies are, we can all align.

What is the best part of working at Veda so far?

It’s the people. I’m super impressed with the openness, the collaboration, the tenacity, and the passion that everyone has here. Solving complicated data issues in healthcare isn’t for the faint of heart.  I can tell this team has the drive to go out and challenge some really complex issues and persevere with the ups and downs that go along with that.

Since you work at Veda, you’re statistically likely to have a pet. Tell us about yours.

We do have a Vizsla named Gus.  He is full of energy and definitely keeps us on our toes.

What song do you have memorized?

I’m a huge music fan so I can’t choose one song. I love a lot of varied music from Johnny Cash, David Bowie, and The Rolling Stones. I grew up in the 90’s so bands like Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins will always be on my playlist.   Living in Chicago, I have also been a fan of Wilco throughout their career and seen them play live numerous times.

What’s the most recent book you’ve read?

I read so much on the news side that when I read a book, it’s for entertainment. The last one was Dave Grohl’s Storyteller.

What is the most used app on your phone?

Spotify is the easy choice but really it’s actually the weather app. I’m extremely addicted to the weather for some reason.
